Is Trulife available in Pakistan?

Yes. Trulife feet and children's components are imported to order and fitted in Karachi. Trulife is an Irish maker whose Seattle range of feet is long established. Its Child's Play range provides children's feet in small sizes with sandal toe shells, a child's knee with a manual lock, and matching small adapters, which makes it a useful source for paediatric legs.

Our honest view

Strengths, and what to watch

Where Trulife is strong

  • A complete children's system, so a small leg is built from parts made for small bodies
  • Height adjustable adapters make lengthening a child's leg quick and inexpensive
  • Sandal toe foot shells suit our footwear
  • Sensible prices

What to weigh up

  • Not a maker of high end carbon or electronic parts
  • Some children's foot shells are not removable, so a worn shell means a new foot
  • Ordered to size and weight, so lead time applies
  • A growing child will need the next foot size within one to three years

Using Trulife in Pakistani conditions

The common mistake with children is building a small leg from adult parts. They are too heavy and too long, and the proportions defeat the child. A range scaled for children, with its own adapters, solves this.

A height adjustable adapter is worth its small cost many times over. Instead of a new pylon at each growth spurt, the leg is lengthened in minutes, and families travelling from interior Sindh or Balochistan make fewer journeys.

Children here are in sandals most of the year, so the sandal toe matters to them at school more than adults expect.

A child size artificial leg on a white workbench with its pylon removed and two aluminium pylons of different lengths laid beside it with a hex key, showing how the leg is lengthened. Artificial Leg Karachi imports and fits Trulife components to order. We are independent of every manufacturer, recommend by need and budget, and earn nothing from steering you to one name over another. Product ranges change, so we confirm the current model, its weight rating and its water rating with the maker before anything is ordered. Questions

Trulife questions

Ask your own question on WhatsApp

Why does a child need special prosthetic parts?

Adult parts are too heavy, too long and too stiff for a small body. Parts scaled for children keep the leg light and correctly proportioned, and allow easy lengthening as the child grows.

What is a Seattle foot?

A dynamic response foot with a flexible keel that stores a little energy as the foot rolls forward and returns it at push off. The design dates from work done in Seattle, which gave it its name.

How often will my child need a new Trulife foot?

When the shoe size of the other foot has moved on by about a size and a half, or the weight limit is reached. For most children that is every one to three years.

Are Trulife feet suitable for a first adult leg?

Yes. A mid range dynamic foot is a sound choice for a first definitive leg, giving a livelier walk than a basic foot at a moderate price.
